Small parts ultrasound

“At Wollondilly Radiology, we do care about our patients needs, through expert services, advanced technology, and genuine compassion.”

What is Ultrasound imaging!

Ultrasound is a safe, painless imaging test that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time pictures of the inside of your body. Unlike X-rays or CT scans, ultrasound does not use radiation, making it a trusted option for patients of all ages, including during pregnancy.

During an ultrasound exam, a trained technologist gently moves a small handheld device called a transducer over the area being examined. The transducer sends sound waves into the body and receives the echoes that bounce back, which are then turned into detailed images on a screen. These images help healthcare providers view organs, tissues, and blood flow to assist with diagnosis and treatment planning.

Most ultrasound exams are quick and comfortable, and results are often available promptly. Our goal is to provide high-quality imaging in a calm, patient-focused environment, helping your care team get the information they need to support your health.

Small parts ultrasound imaging

When a concern is close to the surface, you need imaging that provides extraordinary detail. Our Small Parts Ultrasound (also known as superficial imaging) is a specialized diagnostic tool used to evaluate organs and structures located just beneath the skin.

Unlike standard abdominal scans, small parts imaging uses high-frequency technology to capture high-resolution images of delicate tissues, helping your doctor identify issues that might not be visible on an X-ray or CT scan.

This service of Ultrasound imaging includes

breast ultrasound
Thyroid ultrasound
neck ultrasound
Scrotal ultrasound
Penile ultrasound
Lumps and bumps

Why Ultrasound

Small parts ultrasound is highly versatile and is used to investigate several key areas of the body

Precision Detail
Precision Detail: We use specialized high-frequency linear probes (7–15+ MHz) specifically designed for shallow structures.
Non-Invasive & Safe
There is no radiation involved. The procedure uses safe sound waves and is completely painless.
Real-Time Results
We can see blood flow (using Doppler technology) and movement in real-time, which is essential for diagnosing things like hernias or tendon tears.
No Preparation Required
Most small parts scans require no fasting or special diet. You can simply show up and return to your day immediately after.
