What is Ultrasound imaging!
Ultrasound is a safe, painless imaging test that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time pictures of the inside of your body. Unlike X-rays or CT scans, ultrasound does not use radiation, making it a trusted option for patients of all ages, including during pregnancy.
During an ultrasound exam, a trained technologist gently moves a small handheld device called a transducer over the area being examined. The transducer sends sound waves into the body and receives the echoes that bounce back, which are then turned into detailed images on a screen. These images help healthcare providers view organs, tissues, and blood flow to assist with diagnosis and treatment planning.
Most ultrasound exams are quick and comfortable, and results are often available promptly. Our goal is to provide high-quality imaging in a calm, patient-focused environment, helping your care team get the information they need to support your health.

Shearwave Elastography – The liver
When a physical exam or a standard ultrasound reveals a nodule or liver concern, the next step is often a painful needle biopsy. Shearwave Elastography (SWE) changes that. This breakthrough, non-invasive technology allows us to “feel” the stiffness of your internal organs and tissues using sound waves, providing a quantitative measurement of health without a single needle.
How Shearwave Elastography Works
While standard ultrasound provides a detailed picture of an organ’s structure, Shearwave Elastography offers critical information on how that organ “feels” by measuring its elasticity.
The technology emits a specialized “push pulse” that creates tiny lateral vibrations, known as shear waves, within the tissue. By measuring the speed at which these waves travel, the equipment calculates the exact stiffness of the tissue with high precision.
A Breakthrough in Liver Care This technology is most transformative in assessing liver health. It allows clinicians to non-invasively detect and monitor liver fibrosis or scarring (cirrhosis) by measuring hepatic stiffness. In many cases, this advanced imaging can provide the necessary diagnostic data that previously required a physical needle biopsy, offering a painless and highly accurate alternative for patient assessment.
