“At Wollondilly Radiology, we do care about our patients needs, through expert services, advanced technology, and genuine compassion.”

What is Ultrasound imaging!

Ultrasound is a safe, painless imaging test that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time pictures of the inside of your body. Unlike X-rays or CT scans, ultrasound does not use radiation, making it a trusted option for patients of all ages, including during pregnancy.

During an ultrasound exam, a trained technologist gently moves a small handheld device called a transducer over the area being examined. The transducer sends sound waves into the body and receives the echoes that bounce back, which are then turned into detailed images on a screen. These images help healthcare providers view organs, tissues, and blood flow to assist with diagnosis and treatment planning.

Most ultrasound exams are quick and comfortable, and results are often available promptly. Our goal is to provide high-quality imaging in a calm, patient-focused environment, helping your care team get the information they need to support your health.

Musculoskeletal (MSK) Ultrasound

Musculoskeletal ultrasound is a specialized imaging technique used to capture real-time, high-resolution images of the body’s “moving parts”. This diagnostic tool is essential for evaluating muscles, joints, ligaments, and soft tissues to identify injuries or chronic conditions

At Wollondilly Radiology, our highly experienced sonographers use the latest technology to provide detailed assessments in a calm, patient-focused environment

This service of Ultrasound imaging includes

Shoulder
upper arm
lower leg

What We Examine

MSK ultrasound is highly effective because it allows for “dynamic” imaging—meaning we can move the joint during the scan to see exactly how the structures are functioning. We commonly evaluate

Shoulders
Rotator cuff tears, bursitis, and tendonitis
Knees
Tendon injuries, fluid buildup, and ligament strains
Wrists & Hands
Carpal tunnel syndrome and ganglion cysts
Soft Tissue
Assessment of lumps, bumps, or muscle tears.
